A Warm and Inviting Boho-style LA home

0 Edit Artikel
Hello there! I hope you had a great weekend?! I've got a feeling we're going to rock this week - don't you? Even so I feel like taking a bit of a casual approach and I can't seem to get enough of the  relaxed, boho style right now (must check out this London home and the cosy home of a Berlin blogger if you missed them last week).  The style I'm referring to is a perfectly imperfect, personal living space characterised by white washed walls, an abundance of warm wood, layers of texture, vintage finds, one-off handcrafted pieces and a lorry load of plants! The lovely LA home of art director and creative producer Alison Brislin fits the bill perfectly! Let's take a tour...

Don't you think Ali's home looks so warm and inviting?

The window blinds look a little like fans, don't you think?  - love that!

I also love that if you look closely, you'll see lots of interesting pottery, wall hangings and prints - many of which have been made by local independent craftspeople (more info below!).

Get the look: Sitting room - natural flatwoven rug, ceramics by Heather Levine, Josephine Noel, group partner (these are fab!) and bkb ceramics, cactus print (above record player) by Kate Miss, white sheepskin throw. Check- Urban Outfitters vinyl storage cabinet. Bedroom - Don Freedman sells wall hangings like the one in the bedroom, source a small mid-century side-table like this here.

Is there anything that catches your eye?

If you'd like to see a little more of Ali's home and her life out and about in the LA area check out her Instagram feed here - so inspiring!  You can also check out her latest projects here.

Have a great start to the week!

The relaxed Danish home of Line Stützer

0 Edit Artikel
Oh have I got a lovely home to share with you today! This beautiful, relaxed Danish home belongs to Line Stützer, a service designer at Hello Group, husband Henrik and their adorable dog Betty. Line has decorated their Copenhagen apartment with a blend of art deco, new nordic, and vintage finds resulting in a style she describes as 'classic yet modern, a balance between masculine and feminine, and playful.' Let's take a peek...

Such a wonderful space - loving all the colours and unique touches, how about you?!

Get the look: Noguchi table,  Söderhamn sofa (try Bemz for a yellow cover like this), pick up a teak side cupboard here, source retro dining chairs here (there are some absolutely beautiful ones!). Macrame hanging planter.

Don't miss Line's instagram feed here! And the Danish home archive is a must (love that Danes often have a boho touch to their living spaces).

Have a 'dejlig' day!

PS I mentioned another instagram feed I love the other day which documents the renovation of a 1910 Water Tower in Stockholm - but now realise the link wasn't working (doh!) - here it is again: @thewatertowerproject. Are there any instagram feeds you can recommend?

PPS US friends - the US version of my book Lagom, Not too little, not too much: The Swedish Art of Living a Balanced, Happy Life launches on 3rd October (so soon!) and Goodreads are offering the chance to win a copy here!

An inspiring home where two worlds meet

0 Edit Artikel
There are so many inspiring people out there, doing wonderful things. One of them is Manon Hanssen Meyering.  Manon describes herself as a 'mother, editor, healer and an activist (among other things), and shares the most beautiful snapshots of her 'rainbow family on safari through life' in Amsterdam and Kenya on her website and Instagram feed 'The Life Traveller'. Along with partner Michel, Manon founded The Life Traveller foundation which aims to improve the quality of life of those in need in Kenya through small, person-oriented aid using the motto: “Small aid, great impact.” Helping others helping themselves has always been the main goal. Temporarily closed, she also runs the shop Naramatisho selling Kenyan handicraft in an effort to support her friends in Kenya to build a positive existence (read the full story here). Manon's own living space combines Kenyan handicrafts, treasured artifacts, vintage finds and contemporary design to create a truly inspiring family home. Let's take a tour!

Photography - Manon Hanssen Meyering - thank you to Igor at Happy Interior Blog for the tip!

What an incredible space? It's so inspiring how two worlds have blended in such a beautiful way!

Is there anything that stands out to you?

You can see more beautiful pictures of Manon's home and life on Instagram and read more about her practise as a healer here.  If you'd like to spread a little love and make a donation to the worthwhile causes covered by The life Traveller, check out this page.

Looking for a little more inspiration this weekend? You might like to check out the Bohemian style archive - which includes some of my favourite homes ever!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

Morroccan design meets Scandi-style

Touches of Moroccan design can be seen in many homes right now  - and there are some beautiful shops out there selling all kinds of wonderful, unique finds. One of my favourites is El Ramla Hamra meaning 'the red sand', inspired by the "red city" of Marrakesh and the sands of the beautiful Sahara in southern Morocco. Based in Holland, owners Salahdin and Melanie are passionate about finding special Moroccan products and creating their own designs. And when you see these pictures you'll know why I love the Etsy shop so much. I mean, who wouldn't want their home to look just a little like this?!

So inspiring!

I particularly love the Moroccan blanket with pom poms and Beni Ourain double poufs.

Is there anything that catches your eye?

A few inspiring homes with Moroccan touches (I'm on a roll now.... and hey, it's always great to get some ideas on how to incorporate the look into your own home, right?!): the boho home of Carley Summers, a wonderfully relaxed Skåne home and Tamsin Flower's cheerful London home.

Have a lovely day!

PS El Ramla Hamra also sells through their webshop here

PPS We're heading off into the Arctic by sailing boat for four days (exciting!) - follow my trip on instagram stories! I'm hoping to post tomorrow but just in case I can't get online from Europe's most NorthWesterly point have a great weekend!

Bohemian touch in a magnificent Berlin apartment

0 Edit Artikel
Have you ever been to Berlin? Or perhaps you're lucky enough to live there? I've visited a few times over the past few years and it's fast become one of my favourite cities. One memorable evening we wondered through the Kreuzberg district which is a really vibrant part of town and very cool, in an edgy, bohemian way (I was in awe!). That's probably why I was so excited to stumble across this incredible apartment in the same area. Owner Karina and her husband have decorated the space with restraint - choosing a few carefully selected pieces each with a story to tell - and at the same time allowing the magnificent architecture to take centre stage. And who better to capture the space than Jules Villebrandt of herz und blut?! Let's take a tour...

Photography: Jules Villbrandt. Home-owner: Karina.

What a beautiful apartment! Those floors! That ceiling.... I love the way an upper section in the kitchen has been left in it's original state, very beautiful don't you think?

Get the look from Karina's apartment: souce a beautiful, colourful boucherouite rug here, this is a great source for made-to-measure dual toned linen curtains, Angelpoise lamp.

You can see more pics and read a full interview over on herz und blut here.

You might also like to take a peek at a mid-century inspired Berlin home,  a Berlin home full of contrast and a calm Berlin home with a modern twist. So inspiring!

Oh and  something else you may find interesting (at least I did!) - this graphic maps out the top interior design trends for each US state, who knew?!

And finally, don't miss my sitting room refresh with Bemz tomorrow - am so excited to be sharing it with you!

Have a lovely day!
